Flower

A breathtaking new game on Playstation Network from the team that brought you Flow. I only played this for about 20 minutes late last night but this game really is quite breathtaking and a real change from the usual fare of guns and cars in videogaming. It reminds me of games of old…a very simple premise and game mechanic but this is implemented in quite stunning ways.

The basic premise is that you control a petal from a flower at the beginning of the level and your aim is to pass through all flowers in the level. The great thing is that each flower you ‘connect’ with creates another petal(s) to add to the flying mass…so by the end you have a snake-like chain of petals flowing through the air. Control is via the six-axis controller with any button press controlling speed across the grasslands. Once an area is complete it turns the parched area into a lush green landscape once more.

Sounds a bit naff? Nope. It is simply a beautiful game not only in its aesthetics but also the simplicity of the gameplay. I have to say I was a really big fan of ‘flow’ which also broke the mold of gaming on the PS3 and any console for that matter.

Give it a try. It’s worth every penny of £6(ish)
